Whiplash CGI IRC Client v1.4.1

This is an OLD OLD project from about 1995. It is written in PERL and was the first free CGI IRC client ever designed to my knowledge. While this code no longer reflects the best of my PERL coding ability, it is still a useful educational tool. The multipart/mixed method of CGI streaming was coded before any useful docs were available, after a long bout with trial and error. multipart/mixed is stil by far the most compatible method to incorporate CGI streaming. Implementing style-sheets for background colors and other such feats were brand new features at the time, requiring a significant amount of research and 'toying with' to implement. This code was by far way ahead of its time.

What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is a 'still-popular' open-source CGI/IRC client. Completely open-source, Whiplash is fully customizable and can integrate into any website. Because it's not Java, but HTML-based, you can give your users a completely unique chat experience...not one that looks like everybody else's, without sacrificing the real-time streaming capabilities of IRC.
