Reconfiguring the Motorola v710 to use a SMIL GatewayUSE AT YOUR OWN RISK!In order to use a SMIL gateway from the Motorola v710, you'll need to perform the following steps: 1. Enabling PIX Server Changes. The first step is to enable PIX server change permissions on the handset. To do this, you'll need to enable a SEEM bit on your handset corresponding to this access permission. When set, you'll be able to create new "PIX Servers" on the handset and set one as a default for PIX data. See the v710 seem page for information on how to edit your seem. On the v710, this is byte 62, bit 5 in seem 41A rec 1 (Len: 7A). Once you have uploaded the modified seem, reboot your phone. 2. Create a new PIX Server. Next, you'll create a new PIX Server entry to specify information about your SMIL gateway. Go to Messaging > Message Settings > PIX Message Setup > Server Info. From the menu, select 'New'. Enter information about your SMIL gateway. To use the test server on our site, use this information: Service Name: SMIL GW Server Name: http://www.nuclearelephant.com/cgi-bin/smilgw Web Session Name: VZW (Or your own, if you created one using Mobile Web > Web Sessions) Click DONE when you are finished. 3.Set a new default server Once you've created the new server entry, hilight the SMIL GW profile and choose SELECT. This will make it the default server for sending multimedia transmissions. Now you're all set! You may find a picture and choose "Send to Pix Place" to send it to the SMIL gateway, or you may construct a new PIX message in the messaging section to send a text message. You may also use the "Send in Message" option to send your photos to up to 15 recipients. Disclaimer You may be violating the terms and conditions of your carrier's contract by performing these steps. Please consult your carrier's terms and conditions to determine if this is a violation. The author will not be liable for any damages, expenses, fees or libel incurred in the modding of your mobile phone or use of the software or gateway. USE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
